PU pneumatic tube is made of thermoplastic polyurethane resin which may be abbreviated as PU, PUR, or TPU, this material combines the property both plastic and rubber, it is very strong but flexible, kink resistant, it can withstand up to 150 psi pressure and minus 0.85 mpa vacuum.
Polyurethane is the reactive product mainly from isocyanate and polyol alcohols which derive from ester or ether, ester-based polyurethane tubing is less expensive and provides slightly better fuel and oil resistance but it degrades more quickly when exposed to moisture.
On the contrary, an ether-based counterpart also resists fungus growth and it also reduces the chances of deterioration due to contamination or brittleness.
