If you have worked in some chemical factories or you have seen some scenarios about fluid transportation, you perhaps noticed that a section of rubber hose connects with the inlet of a pump or inserts a tank and absorbs the fluid to another place. this section of rubber hose is a rubber suction hose that can sustain a certain vacuum pressure.

Rubber suction hoses can work well under vacuum pressure because they have helical thick steel wire spiral wounded in the middle layer, that prevents the flexible rubber hoses from collapsing.

Steel wires in the reinforcement support the rubber suction hose

Like most common rubber hoses, rubber suction hoses have three basic three plies: the inner tube, the reinforcement layer, and the outer cover, but the intuitive feature of the rubber suction hose is that there are single or multiple thick steel wires embedded in the reinforcement, as the picture below shows.

The suction rubber hose structure with only one single wire is called a single steel wire skeleton, which can be made with a corrugated surface.

The suction rubber hose structure with two wires is called a dual steel wire skeleton, it seems a bit stiffer than the single one, and the outer appearance is a wide corrugated surface. these two kinds of structures have the same price because of the equal quantity of steel wire.

Different types of rubber suction hoses

All the suction rubber hoses have the same constructions as described above, but they have different types for different applications, this lies in their materials. Rubber is a general term for a class of elastic polymers， they have different resistances due to their individual molecular structure and functional groups, such as high-temperature resistance(EPDM), solvent resistance, wear resistance, oil resistance, weather resistance, acid and alkali resistance and so on.

The colors available for the rubber hose are black commonly, and Blue and green can be alternatives sometimes.
